Francis Ford Coppola Winery has announced its Thanksgiving offerings, via the Diamond Collection, with a pairing guide released.
The 2010 Diamond Collection Claret – layered with flavors of blackberry, cassis and roasted espresso and sports a label that honors the first Cabernet Sauvignon blended in a Bordeaux style by Gustave Niebaum in 1910 – is paired with roasted red meat and traditional turkey and gravy.
The 2010 Diamond Collection Scarlet Label Red Blend – the first vintage of this wine was produced in 2010 and has just been released nationwide after spending 12 months in French oak; it is a blend of 27% Zinfandel, 26% Syrah, 20% Petite Sirah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot – is paired with traditional turkey and gravy, mushroom dishes, savory root vegetables.
The 2010 Diamond Collection Chardonnay – a blend of 100% Chardonnay grapes from two distinct vineyards in Monterey County – is paired with traditional turkey and gravy, vegetarian proteins, buttery mashed potatoes.
The 2010 Diamond Collection Pinot Grigio – grown in the cool climate of Monterey County; with notes of apricots and tangerines, followed by flavors of pear, green apple and grapefruit with underlying mineral accents – is paired with appetizers and light, healthy vegetable dishes, lighter potato dishes.
