New Grand Suites on Venice Simplon-Orient-Express Debut March 2018

Belmond is creating new levels of luxury aboard the legendary Vince Simplon-Orient-Express train with the addition of three new Grand Suites, each themed after cities to which the train travels, Paris, Venice and Istanbul. Capturing the spirit of each city while staying true to the train’s original 1920s art-deco design, the new suites will have private bathrooms with showers, double beds and a living area. All three suites will be in one carriage with the entire car of suites available for reservations for a group.

New interiors are gasp-worthy, with the opulence of Istanbul celebrated with hand carved timber and embossed leather, while the haute couture of Paris is reflected with chic French furnishings, and the grandeur of Venice is interwoven with silk fabrics and hues of silver and grey and hand-crafted Venetian glass.

The big functional change with the new suites versus the twin and double cabins is addition of private en-suite bathrooms and a living area for private dining, including a sofa, which can be converted into an additional bed in the evening. As a point of reference, Twin and Double Cabins are configured into a sitting area for guests to admire the passing views during the day and converted into sleeping quarters each night while guests are at dinner; cabins include a washbasin with shared full bathrooms available at the ends of each carriage.

Guests traveling in the Paris, Venice and Istanbul Grand Suites will enjoy private transfers to and from the train where they will be welcomed by their personal cabin steward available for all their on-board services, including free-flowing champagne and private in-suite dining, caviar on arrival, preferred dining times or in-suite dining. Extra touches include bespoke amenities and a complimentary art-deco bathrobe.
