The Istanbul hotel scene is red-hot. There’s the Jumeirah Pera Palace, two swank Four Seasons, and the new Edition, to name a few… And soon Raffles and Shangri-La will be coming to town. Here’s another one that we’re extremely excited about: The Marti Istanbul, which will open on July 15 in the Taksim neighborhood. The Marti Group is a family-owned company with four hotels on the Turquoise Coast. The Istanbul hotel will be the group’s first urban property.
Decorated by designer Zeynep Fadilloglu in a contemporary style, the hotel will pay homage to Istanbul’s heritage through its impressive artwork. A key architectural element will be the central atrium-- filled with natural light-- where an Ottoman tent will steal the stage. The 270 guest rooms will be spread out over 11 floors, and equipped with flat screen TVs, iPod docking stations, rainforest showers, and free Internet. A special perk for suite guests: access to the Lounge on the top floor.
