Nobu Hotels—the hospitality group helmed by award-winning actor Robert de Niro and celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa—currently comprises two properties in Las Vegas (at Caesars Palace) and Manila. A London hotel has been in the works for awhile, originally slated to open on Willow Street in Shoreditch this year. The latest word is that the hotel will open in the first quarter of 2017. (It's owned by Willow Corp Sàrl, and Nobu Hospitality will operate it under a long-term management agreement.)

Currently under construction, the five-story hotel has a striking architectural design made with concrete, glass, and cantilevered steel to reflect the district’s industrial origins. With a goal of “being part of Shoreditch’s dynamic creativity energy,” Nobu Shoredith will have 156 guestrooms, a fitness center, banqueting/meeting venues, and a restaurant and bar orchestrated by Nobu himself.

Nobu Hospitality has announced an “aggressive expansion plan” with hotels in the works for Miami, Malibu and Los Cabos.
