Dispatch from London: The New Beaufort Bar at The Savoy

On a recent trip to London, Luxury Travel Advisor had a peek inside The Savoy. (For details on the hotel’s staggering £220 million restoration, check out Jena Tesse Fox’s article in the January 2011 issue of the magazine.) We weren’t the only ones ogling the interiors. A crowd of passer-bys and chic guests were standing open-mouthed in the lobby. We appreciated the one-bedroom River View Deluxe Suite, dressed in handsome Edwardian style, for the gorgeous views of London’s skyline through a wall of glass.

The Savoy is celebrated for its American Bar, arguably one of the most famous watering holes on earth, but it’s also now home to the Beaufort Bar, a gilded space that’s bound to become a top London destination for cocktails. Designed in black and gold, the bar oozes opulence and glamour. It was built on the hotel's original cabaret stage, and offers live entertainment every night. Libations on offer include 28 Champagnes available by the glass, Champagne cocktails, and expertly mixed signature cocktails. Here’s a look at the most impressive drinks:

The Gilded Cage, a drink that serves two for £26: Vodka, Mandarin Liqueur, Yellow Chartreuse, Fresh Passionfruit and Mango with Pomegranate Foam. (The two glasses are served in a bird cage.)

The Winston, for the Cognac and cigar aficionado, £51.50: Hennessy XO Cognac, Blood Orange Purée, Quince Liqueur and Vanilla Syrup with a Muddled Romeo y Julieta Cigar, Served Straight Up
