VisitLondon has announced its 2013 attractions starting this May.
Spanish tapas group Camino will launch the UK’s first dedicated Cava Bar at its fourth restaurant in London near St. Paul’s Cathedral this May. Accommodating up to 120 diners, Camino San Pablo is expected to “bring the life and soul and tastes of Spain to the city with superb tapas dishes and quality Spanish wines”. Copa de Cava will offer a range of cavas in London with around 25 different choices.
A new 99-roomed design-led contemporary boutique hotel located in South Kensington, Xenia is scheduled to open in May. Situated in a restored Victorian building with contemporary interiors, Xenia will comprise a destination restaurant, bar with outdoor terrace, and private dining and events spaces in addition to its bedrooms.
From May 25 to 27, a gastronomic delight for the May Bank Holiday will host a three-day event in the East front gardens and will showcase a wealth of food and drink from the region.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is set to open on the first anniversary of the Opening Ceremony on July 27. An exclusive "backstage" tour will include a bus trip into the park and a journey up the UK's tallest sculpture, the ArcelorMittal Orbit, with a chance to take in views of the London skyline.
Media Space, a new purpose built venue based on the second floor of the Science Museum, will open to the public in May 2013. A collaboration between the National Media Museum, Bradford, and the Science Museum, London, Media Space will present two major exhibitions each year, a series of free installations and talks. Comprising of massive exhibition space, a studio and a destination café/bar, the venue will showcase the National Media Museum’s collection, Science Museum’s Arts Projects and new commissions.
“In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion” is slated at the Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace from May 10 to October 6. This exhibition will trace the changing styles of the 16th and 17th centuries and the spread of fashions through the royal courts of Europe.
Sports events include the 2013 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final at Stamford Bridge on May 23; UEFA Champions Festival at the International Quarter from May 23 to 26; and Euroleague Basketball – Final Four at The O2 from May 10 to 12.
