W Times Square Wraps Lobby Reno

w times square living room lobbyHeaded to Times Square soon? Consider sneaking a peek at the W Times Square's newly revamped Living Room lobby, which just completed a $10 million facelift under the direction of Josh Held Design and Starwood's design team.

Meant to be a tribute to Times Square's past incarnations -- think the classic theaters of the 20s and 30s, or the more neon-soaked 70s and 80s -- the space now sports a 40 foot neon bar installation designed by Booklyn-based Lite Brite Neon, a photobooth that uploads guests’ images to Instagram and the Living Room's bathrooms in real time and a "grand piano" communal table, meant to mimick the old-time piano bars where Broadway performers would gather after the show. Backing the space is a big floor-toceiling mural by graffiti artist Lady Aiko that looks back on Times Square through the decades.

Complementing the new look is an all-new speciality cocktail menu with ingredients by local distilleries. We hear the team behind The Eldridge, The Handy and LES Beat is responsible.
