Waldorf Astoria and Peninsula Chicago Celebrate Van Gogh Exhibition

Bernard’s Bar/Waldorf Astoria Chicago

The Waldorf Astoria Chicago and The Peninsula Chicago are announcing a partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago, which highlights Van Gogh’s "Bedrooms" exhibition. For the first time in North America, all three versions of Van Gogh’s "The Bedroom" will be viewed under one roof and presented exclusively at the museum, February 14 to May 8.

To celebrate this historic event, The Waldorf Astoria Chicago is hosting The Bedroom package. This special offer will include two VIP tickets to the exhibition, which allows guests to skip lines, complimentary cocktails for two at the hotel’s Bernard’s Bar, breakfast for two at Balsan or in-room dining and a souvenir door handle card with the namesake painting from the exhibition.

During the exhibition, guests will see 36 pieces by Van Gogh, including a digitally enhanced reconstruction of his bedroom. Viewers will get a sense of Van Gogh’s state of mind and will get a look as his beloved bedroom in Arles, France.

Back at the hotel, guests should toast to the artist with a specialty cocktail made for the event. The Vincent cocktail will be served in Bernard’s Bar and will include vodka, yellow chartreuse, absinthe and lemon juice. The Vincent was inspired by Van Gogh’s love for absinthe and the Yellow House in Arles, France, home to the bedrooms.

The fun continues when guests pick up their own paintbrushes and try to recreate one of Van Gogh’s works. This paint party is in collaboration with Bottle and Bottega and will be held of February 4 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visit EventBrite for tickets.

The Peninsula Chicago is also celebrating this special exhibit by giving guests private access to the exhibit, as part of the hotel's enhanced Keys to the City experiential program. The program gives guests one-on-one access to special events in Chicago.

The opportunity includes private access (for up to 10 guests) to the museum either before opening or after closing. That's right, guests will view the paintings in a silent atmosphere, go ahead, soak it in. There will also be a guided tour of the Van Gogh exhibit. Guests will also receive a curator-signed catalogue, transportation to and from the venue and a special welcome amenity from the hotel. Note: This package does not include accommodations.
