Ditch your local paint-and-sip event and head somewhere a little more exotic to get your creative fix. The adults-only Casa Velas boutique hotel in Puerto Vallarta has just announced a new exclusive experience for its guests that combines both painting and wine tasting.
Every Monday, Mexican artist León de la Vega will guide guests through an hour-long themed art workshop that comes complemented with an authentic Mexican wine tasting. de la Vega, founder of Estudio-café in Mexico City, will teach guests of the class how to paint pictures with topics like “In the Footsteps of Miro,” “Calligraphy,” “Plein Air Painting,”” Drawing the Human Figure,” “Wine Sketching,” and “Painting Waves.”
The TEDX talk host, whose work has been displayed everywhere from Mexico City to New York, Santa Fe and Albuquerque, will also host an interactive lesson on the beginnings of the local art known as Vallarta Naif. Guests of the hotel can discover how to master the different painting techniques in a variety of settings, including a private ocean club with vistas of the Banderas Bay to a picturesque terrace surrounded by foliage and views of the Marina Vallarta golf course.
The new art sessions are part of the resort’s rotating schedule of complimentary dining and entertainment offerings and activities for couples. Painting with Wine is just one of the interactive opportunities offered to hotel guests each night. Every evening at six the main lobby and the Ocean Club host activities for hotel guests to participate in, creating a unique and different experience for couples each night.
