What's New at the Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti

With the dry season in full swing, and the animals awaiting the rainy season for water, now is the time to head to the Serengeti to see the animals seek water from the Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti’s watering hole. As the resort prepares for the Green Season, Four Seasons has announced a variety of upcoming activities and events to make your journey to the safari even better.

The Four Seasons Safari Lodge has got you covered in terms of celebrating holidays abroad. The resort is offering a variety of options for you and your family to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Easter this spring. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, the team of Maji Bar and Terrace will be spending their February 14 waiting to welcome guests with a glass of sparkling wine, while the chefs prepare a special menu for the evening. Following dinner, guests will snuggle up poolside to watch a movie at the pop-up cinema on Maji Terrace, served with popcorn and s’mores for your sweet tooth.  The lodge has got more about celebrating romantic getaways on its website.

This April, Four Seasons recommends visiting the Serengeti around Easter (April 16) to see the park once its lush and green from the rainfalls of March and early April. The early herds of the Migration will also be traveling northwards towards the Central Serengeti, increasing your chances of seeing the animals in the wild. The calendar at the Lodge has a lot coming up in April, including spotting big cats on game drive adventures, taking dips in the pools surrounded by elephants, poolside movie nights, wildlife treasure hunts and a spear throwing Massai Olympics for the kids. For adults, learn how to make cocktails or mocktails in a mixology class or a get in the kitchen at Kula’s Restaurant to learn the secrets of African cuisine.

Also recommended for the upcoming Green Season is heading to Rwanda to trek with mountain gorillas. Through a partnership with Terra Incognita Ecotours, Four Seasons is offering guests the chance to escape East Africa to adventure through Volcanoes National Park on a two, three or four day itinerary to trek with the 800 remaining mountain gorillas. Flight connections between Kigali (Rwanda’s capital) and the Serengeti make it simple for travelers to experience both locations in one trip.

A sample of the four day itinerary includes an early evening arrival in Kigali to allow for a good nights rest, before spending day two on a drive out to the mountains after a leisurely breakfast and your choice of lodge for lunch. Day three includes a full day of gorilla trekking, as you and your group leave the lodge with an expert tracker. By late afternoon, guests will return to the lodge for an overnight stay. The fourth and final day brings a descent from the mountains and a return transfer to Kigali. Depending on the time of your flight, we suggest taking a trip to the Genocide Memorial for an eye opening reminder of history.

Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti is offering more information on the Green Season through its Green Season newsletter and its website.
