From Lake Bled to the Adriatic coast, American travelers are increasingly discovering the Old World charms and natural beauty of Slovenia, smack dab in the heart of Europe. In big hotel news for the Slovenian capital, InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the debut of InterContinental Ljubljana in partnership with Delta Holding. Slated to open in 2017, the new-build hotel will be situated near Presernov Square and Triple Bridge, with views over the river Ljubljanica.
There will be 165 guest rooms, including a Presidential Suite. Leisure facilities will include a spa, fitness center, and swimming pool, while the two large banquet halls-- with a capacity of 500 guests each—will host conferences and events. A star attraction will be the sky-high restaurant on the 21st floor, with an outdoor terrace affording panoramic views over the city. Currently IHG operates 182 InterContinental Hotels around the world, with an additional 50 in the development pipeline.
