The Majestic in Kuala Lumpur Reopens in December

Come December the Malaysian capital will witness the reopening of the historic Majestic Hotel, a national heritage site, after a significant renovation by architect Zaidan Tahir. Once the haunt of Graham Greene, the hotel used to draw a stylish crowd for Afternoon Tea and drinks on the rooftop bar. But, as explained by Conde Nast Traveller, “it struggled to compete with the flashy new hotels springing up in the 1980s.”

A top-to-bottom overhaul by YTL Hotels brings back the glamour to this city landmark and its 300 Art Deco-themed guest rooms. There will be a spa and various F&B outlets including a dark-paneled bar, Colonial Café, Tea Lounge, and Opus One wine cellar. The Majestic Hotel is located on Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin opposite the old Moorish-style train station in Kuala Lumpur. For more information, visit www.majestickl.com
