As we reported in a feature story in June, the luxury hotel scene in Abu Dhabi is red hot. We tested out the new St. Regis resort on Saadiyat Island, and have been keeping close tabs on Starwood’s second St. Regis, an urban hotel set to open on the city’s famous seafront boulevard, the Corniche. The latest news: We won’t have to wait that much longer, as the St. Regis Abu Dhabi is on track to debut on September 15, 2012.
Housed in the new Nation Towers development (occupying floors 33- 49 floors of one tower), the luxury hotel will have 228 guest rooms attended to by St. Regis butlers. Top digs: The Abu Dhabi Suite is billed as the “world’s highest suspended Presidential Suite”- situated on the connecting bridge between towers- and comes with its very own spa, gym and private cinema.
There will be 10 different restaurants and bars, including an eatery from Michelin-starred chef Gary Rhodes. Facilities run the gamut from the Reméde Spa to the 103-meter outdoor infinity pool facing the Gulf.
