Bordeaux’s Hotel Burdigala Unveils Renovation

February 22, 2012 By: Mary Winston Nicklin

Hotel Burdigala, BordeauxIn other news out of Bordeaux: the five-star Hotel Burdigala has unveiled a top-to-bottom makeover that’s all about “urban chic.” The renovation project spiffed up the restaurant, bar, lobby, rooms and suites- with a new color palette, lighting, and contemporary décor. (The hotel closed completely in summer 2011 for the renovation.)

Wine-inspired artwork in the lobby reflects the extraordinary wine region that surrounds the city, and the restaurant, Le Jardin de Burdigala, has a wine menu highlighting châteaux from the Médoc, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, the Graves, and Sauternes. The “traditional” room category reflects a Directoire style in its design, while the “luxury” and suite room categories are outfitted in warm materials like wood and leather, and are equipped with Jacuzzi tubs in marble or granite bathrooms.

Just a short walk from the historic city center, the hotel is named for the original Gallo-Roman town that later became Bordeaux. The Burdigala is well-equipped for business meetings and conferences, and has an on-site parking garage. For more information: www.burdigala.com
