We’ve been keeping tabs on MGallery, the hot new hotel brand from Accor which has been opening some buzzworthy hotels (like the Molitor in Paris). The “M” in MGallery stands for “memorable,” and these unique hotels are designed to reflect their local setting with individuality and flair.
The latest is the Balthazar Hotel and Spa, which is the first five-star hotel for the city of Rennes, the capital of Brittany in France. A massive four-year renovation project has connected two separate buildings; there are now 56 guest rooms designed with natural materials in a contemporary style to create the vibe of a traditional Breton home. All rooms are equipped with free wifi and walk-in showers, while the three suites have terrace overlooking the rooftops of Rennes.
Particularly noteworthy is the luxurious Nuxe Spa, which has an expansive “sensory” area with a hammam, sauna, ice fountain, pool, and experience shower. The restaurant menu was designed by the award-winning chef Michel Rostang and his daughters, focusing on seasonal products fresh from the local markets.
