New in the French Alps: K2 Hotel Opens in Courchevel

January 30, 2012 By: Mary Winston Nicklin

K2 Resort and Spa, CourchevalJoin the world’s jetsetters for some of the world’s best skiing (and a red-hot après-ski scene) in the French Alps. There’s a new luxury hotel in Courchevel, and it’s getting rave reviews. Philippe Capezzone and Stanley Fink, the duo behind the popular Kilimandjaro Hotel, opened the K2 Resort & Spa in December 2011. (Yes, it’s named for the famous peak in the Himalayas.) Designed as a hamlet with 29 guest rooms and five chic chalets, the resort blends into the landscape, surrounded by fir trees on the Cospillot slope. From its slope-side perch, the resort has beautiful panoramas over the pistes and mountain massifs. And the ski lift in front of K2 provides easy access to one of the world’s largest ski areas.

The owners are aiming for the stars with this new property, hopeful to get a five-star rating with all the luxury amenities available to guests: two top-notch restaurants, a complete wine cellar, a cocktail bar, a cigar lounge, private nightclub, ski shop, lounges for kids, and a large spa with an infinity pool.
