Airelles Saint-Tropez, Château de la Messardière Opening July 1

Airelles Saint-Tropez, Château de la Messardière, a 19th-century palace hotel on the outskirts of Saint-Tropez, will be opening its doors for the first time under the luxury Airelles brand on July 1, 2021.

Acquired in May 2019, the property has joined Airelles’ hotel collection and has undergone extensive renovation work over the last two years, with French architect and interior designer Christopher Tollemer overseeing the redesign. The property is Saint-Tropez’s largest hotel, occupying 25 acres of glorious grounds overlooking the Côte d’Azur and Provençal countryside.

This summer, guests can look forward to numerous initiatives, including a culinary partnership with chef Nobu Matsuhisa, as well as “air, land and sea” experiences for adults and families (think: exclusive helicopter day trips, perfume-making workshops, sidecar vineyard tours and hot air balloon rides).

Summer Partnership With Chef Nobu Matsuhisa

From July 1 to October 10, Château de la Messardière will be partnering with chef Nobu Matsuhisa. The restaurant Matsuhisa Saint-Tropez will offer guests Japanese/French fusion cuisine, with a focus on fresh seafood. The menu will include a selection of Matsuhisa’s popular dishes, including yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño and yuzu soy sauce, black cod with saikyo-yaki miso and rock shrimp tempura. There will also discover a selection of sake, along with a curated cocktail list.

The main draw of the restaurant will be its outdoor terrace, offering views over Pampelonne Bay, where guests will be able to enjoy impressive sunsets and dining under the stars.

In addition to the new restaurant Matsuhisa Saint-Tropez, Château de la Messardière has completely redesigned its culinary offering with both local and international concepts; this includes the arrival of L’Auberge des Maures, one of the most iconic restaurants in Saint-Tropez, which will offer authentic Provençal cuisine with traditional specialties.

New “Air, Land and Sea’ Experiences

Château de la Messardière is also introducing a selection of curated luxury experiences and activities for adults and families themed around the air, land and sea. These include:

Exclusive Helicopter Day Trips – Guests can choose wherever they wish to fly to in the South of France. This could be a day trip to sister property Château d’Estoublon in Provence, a fly over the region’s Gorges du Verdon or Mas du Mangoustier, or even a day trip to Monaco for shopping.

Hot Air Balloon Tour – Discover St Tropez’s scenery from the skies during a hot air balloon tour organized through Château de la Messardière’s concierge team. Wake up early with a picnic breakfast in your private transfer, which will take you directly to your departure location (Forcalquier), ready to watch the sunrise over the hills from above.

Perfume-Making Workshop – Delve into the \world of scent creation on an interactive perfume-making workshop, organized by Château de la Messardière and Valmont. Classic Sidecar Vineyard Tour – Explore the surrounding vineyards of Saint-Tropez on a private tour by vintage motorcycle sidecar. Cruise around picturesque villages and rolling countryside with an experienced driver and enjoy a tour of vineyards, followed by wine tasting and a picnic.

Other options include a Classic Sidecar Vineyard Tour, Bike Tour of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and a golfing day trip.

Sea

Private Luxury Picnic on a Wild Creek – Guests can enjoy their very own private pointu boat for a day of exploring Saint Tropez’s coastline. The captain will take you to hidden coves and secluded beaches, followed by a picnic on a wild creek with views out to the bay.

Activities for Children

Children at Château de la Messardière will also have plenty of new activities to enjoy in the new, custom-built Airelles Summer Camp. There will be a cinema, a tree house, a large area for arts and crafts (including calligraphy, origami, postcard-making and a lava lamp-creating workshop), clay modelling (including pottery making), water games (such as water polo and aquatic basketball), and sports activities (including ping pong, volleyball, badminton and basketball).

There will also be day trips to Saint-Tropez, too, with activities including “laser fun” in a nearby forest, go-karting, “Zorbing” and open-air cinema trips for older children and teens.

Rates at Château de la Messardière include breakfast, access to the brand-new Valmont Spa, sunbeds at Jardin Tropézina beach club, a courtesy car to the beach and city center (Mini Mokes or Rolls Royce Cullinan) and more.
