El San Juan Hotel to Re-Open in February 2017

Curio – A Collection by Hilton has announced the opening date of its newest renovated property and its first property in Puerto Rico. El San Juan Hotel is slated for its grand opening on February 5, 2017. The multi-million dollar renovation features property upgrades including completely remodeled guestrooms, a new pool and 22 luxury cabanas, a fitness center and spa facilities, modernized meeting spaces, new restaurants, upgraded shops and an updated lobby.

Led by top hotel and restaurant designed Jeffery Beers, the renovations bring a more modern and luxurious feel to the property. Luis Torruella, a locally acclaimed artist, designed the eight-foot sphere that floats in a pool of water in front of the hotel and its new cobblestone plaza entrance.  Inspired by the close relationship that the hotel and Puerto Rico share with music, dance and nature, the installation was created to create a unique atmosphere upon guests’ arrival at El San Juan Hotel.

After its February 5 opening, El San Juan Hotel will begin to reveal more experiences throughout 2017. Throughout the New Year, the hotel will introduce a variety of new programming, cutting edge spa and fitness facilities and curated restaurant concepts in newly designed menus. Returning visitors need not worry, though, as hotel favorites including Brava and Meat Market will continue to thrive throughout the new designs.

Chef Juliana Gonzales is heading the new dining concept on-site, Caña. The restaurant will incorporate new socially and environmentally mindful ways of eating, including working with local farmers, fishermen and small business to craft Puerto Rican heritage into the new restaurant. Caña will welcome locals and hotel guests for meals all day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The property offers access to and views of Isla Verde beach, which was recently named the top urban beach in the U.S.

The brains behind the operation at El San Juan Hotel include management company partners IMPRINT Hospitality and Aimbridge Hospitality, general manager Stefan Huber, managing director of food and beverage Tim Arnold and Chief Experience Officer Wesley Cullen. In addition, as part of the Hilton portfolio, El San Juan Hotel will participate in Hilton HHonors, the guest loyalty program for Hilton’s 13 distinct hotel brands.

Andro Nodarse-León, of León Mayer & Co., co-owner and asset manager of the hotel, made a statement about his excitement for the new property, saying, “We are elated to see the re-opening of El San Juan Hotel become a reality. The rejuvenated hotel will honor the original elegance, opulence and energy of this Puerto Rican landmark with new, modern elements that will make the property very current and appealing to our target guests that seek authentic luxury lifestyle experiences.”
