Hotel Cacao to open Doors this September

The creators of San Miguel de Allende’s Hotel Matilda, are taking their concept to a national level with the Cornerstone Collection, a development of Hotel Matilda-themed, lifestyle-focused boutique hotels.  Playa Del Carmen will see the first arrival this September with Hotel Cacao and Mexico City will follow suit in 2015. 

Hotel Cacao will be a sixty room property, fitted out with a “hippie chic “style which will be reflected in the décor and architecture. We hear the spacious rooms will be fixed with designer selected extras such as bathroom amenities by Italian designer, Missoni and art donated by Tommy Hilfiger.

Renowned Mexican chef and operator of Hotel Matilda’s Moxi, Enrique Olvera, will be taking his first “coctelería” (mixology) experience to the hotel’s rooftop bar, providing sweeping views of the Caribbean alongside his cocktail creations. Foodies will enjoy Olvera’s protégé, Chef Alejandro Cuatepotzo’s dining offering, Nibs. Recipes will reinterpret popular Mexican seafood and meat dishes whilst tapping indigenous ingredients of the region. Guests can expect to dine on dishes such as ceviches with coconut and lime, lobster with green mango, shrimp burritos and prime flat-iron carne asada, all amongst the eateries tropical décor complete with flowing water wall.

Night owls will enjoy the after-hour-style downstairs bar that will encompass a bordello look. The shops and restaurants on the street level of the building include Maíz de Mar and a marisquería (seafood restaurant) by Chef Olvera

Rates will range from $196 to $500, including Continental breakfast. Taxes are additional.
