The Greenbrier, located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, has announced plans to relaunch luxury rail travel in America, with the July 2012 debut of The Greenbrier Presidential Express.

The Greenbrier Presidential Express will offer a six-hour, nonstop trip from Washingon, DC’s Union Station to White Sulphur Springs. The 15-car train, accommodating up to 240 passengers, will feature a board room car, salon car and open-air car for views and photography.

"We want to bring back the glamour of rail travel," says Jim Justice, chairman and owner of The Greenbrier. "Everything from the decor to the food will make you feel as if you are already at the resort."

The cars, originally built in the 1950s, are being refurbished by a team of 40 craftsmen in Pottstown, PA. Carleton Varney, president of Dorothy Draper & Company, with his associate Brinsley Matthews, have applied The Greenbrier’s Dorothy Draper decor to the train’s interior and exterior.

This project is being designed, built and operated by The Greenbrier Express Company, Inc., which was co-founded by Jim Justice, Paul Nichini and Ross Rowland.
