Opera House and Harbour
The Park Hyatt Sydney Opera Room’s private balcony looks out on the Opera House and Harbour.

Fans of the Park Hyatt Sydney are in for a treat when the hotel reopens later this year. The hotel has been closed for seven months, during which its interiors and exteriors were redesigned (nearly from scratch, we hear) and fully transformed. Word is the property is taking reservations for February 2012 onward.

The hotel, in the Rocks district of Sydney’s city center, was redone with new rooftop suites, upgraded guest rooms and remodeled public spaces. Nice Touch: Views of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House will be visible through new floor-to-ceiling windows in almost all areas of the property.

Guest rooms are being completely redesigned to complement the hotel’s harbor-front location. The best part? An additional floor is being added for three new rooftop suites, each of which will have large balconies and appropriately luxe amenities. The Sydney Suite, Park Hyatt Sydney’s new presidential quarters, will have an outdoor dining table on a 1,000-square-foot balcony as well as kitchen prep and cooking space for a personal chef. All suites will have floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a private balcony overlooking Sydney Harbour, and formerly four-paneled floor-to-ceiling windows will be replaced with two larger panes to make for clearer views of the city outside. In addition to new design elements, service enhancements will include twice the former number of hotel butlers to assist all guests and new restaurant-style, hand-carried in-room dining instead of the traditional roll cart.

Apart from private dining options, guests will be able to enjoy locally sourced and biodynamic cuisine in The Dining Room. Its entire façade is being reconstructed to optimize the Opera House view through floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
