Off the Map Travel Introduces Arctic Glacier Program

Adventure travel company Off the Map Travel will roll out its new “Night on a Glacier” program this May. The trip takes travelers to the island of Svalbard, high in the Arctic Circle, where they will climb a glacier, go on a dogsledding expedition and possibly see polar bears.

Guests will start off in Longyearbyen, the arrival point on the island, where they will begin their trip with a dogsledding trip. After this, visitors will join a guide on a Zodiac boat cruise along the coast in search of walrus, whales and polar bears. The cruise will take guests to the Nordenskiold Lodge, where they will spend the heart of the trip.

Located at the foot of a blue glacier, the lodge will serve as the starting point for a guided glacier climb, a kayak trip and a wildlife photo walk. In the evening, guests can relax back at the lodge with a traditional sauna experience. All throughout their trip, guests will have the chance of seeing wild polar bears, Svalbard’s most famous residents.

Off the Map Travel will offer the new “Night on a Glacier” program from May to September. The company will customize every itinerary to meet the specific interests and needs of each participant. The package includes three nights in Longyearbyen and two at Nordenskiold Lodge.
