Frenchie has been a Paris hot spot for years now, morphing into a veritable culinary empire on the trendy rue de Nil in the 2nd arrondissement. (There’s also a wine bar and Frenchie-to-Go where you can grab to-die-for sandwiches.) Now, chef Gregory Marchand is heading across the Channel to open an outpost in Covent Garden in London. Marchand is no stranger to England. In fact, his “Frenchie” nickname was bestowed by Jamie Oliver when he worked in the kitchens of Restaurant Fifteen.

As reported by The Financial Times “How to Spend It”, Frenchie London will open in February in the space formerly occupied by The Covent Garden Grill. Decorated by set designer Emilie Bonaventure, the two-level restaurant will also have a cool basement seating area where you can watch the chefs at work. The restaurant will be open for lunch, dinner and cocktails. The menu will showcase the best British ingredients like cheeses from Neal’s Yard Dairy, and they’ll also house-smoke meats and fish.
