Hilton Windhoek’s Presidential Suite
Hilton Windhoek’s Presidential Suite has spacious living quarters.

Namibia may be most famous for Shiloh Jolie-Pitt—born in Namibia to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt five years ago—but the country is quickly coming into its own. Two new high-end hotels have opened, adding more glamour to the fast-developing nation.

The new five-star Hilton Windhoek, which opened in May in Namibia’s capital city, completed construction when its wine bar opened in early July. (The hotel also has four other bars and restaurants throughout.) The hotel’s 150 rooms and suites are have a decidedly African touch, with zebra-striped headboards and textured desert-tone wall hangings. Top clients will want the presidential suite, of course (which comes with a living room, dining area and kitchenette), but there are also four diplomatic suites if that’s taken.

The decidedly modernist nine-story property has cool and quirky features like a glass-enclosed garage and large rooftop gardens for prime relaxation time.

Luxury travel advisors should reach out to Director of Sales & Marketing Lena Levi (lena.levi@hilton.com; 011-264-61-2962929) for specifics.

Meanwhile Kempinski Hotels is turning the former Midgard Country Estate into the Kempinski Midgard, which will be its second hotel in Namibia. An hour’s drive from Windhoek in the Otjihavera Mountains, we hear the 39,500-acre property has 46 rooms with en-suite bathrooms (and, of course, air conditioning), spacious gardens, five restaurants and bars, several swimming pools, an amphitheatre and even a bowling alley. Built as a private home in 1937, the Midgard Estate was renovated in 2009, and Kempinski has continued that modernization process as it transitioned it into its portfolio.

Advisors can contact Director of Sales & Marketing Eva Schoemann (eva.schoemann@kempinski.com) with any questions.
