A&S Signature Journeys Expands Its Tour Offerings With New South Africa Itineraries

Repel off Table Mountain

A&S Signature Journeys has announced that it is offering a range of new tour options in South Africa, including experiences such as shark diving and walking with lions.

The new itineraries will allow clients to get up close to South Africa’s diverse wildlife, experience a challenging adventure tour, or opt for more traditional, soft adventures including safaris and sightseeing.

The “Walking with the Lions” program is Africa’s first authentic effort to ethically re-introduce the offspring of captive-bred lions back into the wild. A&S Signature Journeys provides travelers ages 15 and older the opportunity to walk with the lions in their natural habitat, while younger guests can explore the surrounding bush accompanied by a staff member.

Thrill-seekers looking for an adrenaline rush can go shark cage diving near the fishing village of Gansbaai, or repel down the side of Table Mountain at Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town.

For clients interested in learning more about South Africa’s history, A&S can arrange a private tour of Nelson Mandela’s maximum-security prison on Robben Island, guided by one of his former prison mates. The tour will include a visit to the cell where he spent 18 of his 27 year sentence enduring the prison's lowest level of treatment. While in Johannesburg, travelers will also visit the permanent “Mandela’s Release Speech” exhibition at the Apartheid Museum, where they can listen to an original recording of the speech delivered at Cape Town City Hall on February 12, 1990. The tour will conclude in Qunu, the birthplace and burial site of Nelson Mandela.

For special clients, as part of A&S’ personalized service, travelers have the opportunity to stay at Mount Anderson Reserve in the Drakensberg Mountains, where the entire facility will be reserved exclusively for the group, regardless of its size, with all accommodations, amenities and staff available. The property is set on 20,000 acres above Mashishing (Lydenburg) in Mpumalanga, located in the northern part of South Africa. Accommodations include butler service, guest homes, private drivers and outdoor activities such as fly fishing, horseback riding and mountain biking.

A&S recommends pairing the stay with a luxury safari at the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, a private game reserve unavailable to day visitors. Guests will be chauffeured to the camp from Mount Anderson Ranch and enjoy views of the Blyde River Canyon.

A&S Signature Journeys was founded by Sheri Fazleabas in 2001, and provides travel agents with detailed itineraries, custom tailored to their clients’ interests.
