Swire Hotels Announces Key Appointments

Swire Properties Hotel Holdings Limited has announced key appointments within the company.

Hotelier Dean Winter was appointed as area director of operations for Hong Kong hotels and China projects. He will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of three Hong Kong hotels including The Upper House, EAST, Hong Kong and Headland Hotel. He will also be the project head for the upcoming hotels in China. Winter joined Swire Hotels in 2006 and has senior management experience in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Prior to joining Swire Hotels, he was the executive assistant manager at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, responsible for overseeing its renovation and re-opening in 2006. A former director of food and beverage within Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, he was also GM of Conran Restaurants, London, from 1999 to 2001.

Jennifer Cheung is appointed as GM of EAST, Hong Kong. She is the former hotel manager and director of sales and marketing at EAST, Hong Kong. As a Swiss hotel management school graduate, she began her sales career at Shangri-La Shanghai and Langham Place, Hong Kong, where she continued to develop her expertise in the field of sales and marketing.

Peter Wynne is announced as area GM for Beijing. He is the former GM – Projects and Development at Swire Hotels. Wynne has over 20 years of experience in the industry since settling in Asia, including Aman Resorts and Taj Hotels. Prior to joining Swire Hotels, he opened the Raffles Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. His first assignment after graduating from Bournemouth University was at Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, initially as resident manager and later as general manager.

Michael Faulkner is appointed as GM at EAST, Beijing. His experience includes five years with luxury hotels in China and Australia, as well as several years at the Metropolitan in London where he was director of sales and marketing.

Swire Hotels has been created to manage urban hotels in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the UK. The Opposite House, Beijing, opened in 2008 and was followed by The Upper House, above Pacific Place, Hong Kong, in October 2009. Swire Hotels opened a 345-room lifestyle business hotel called EAST, Hong Kong in Hong Kong’s Island East on 25 January 2010. EAST, Beijing with 369 rooms, located within INDIGO in Jiangtai, opened in September 2012. The Montpellier Chapter, Cheltenham opened in 2010; while The Magdalen Chapter, Exeter opened in June 2012.
