Enjoy Russian Tea at Mexico's Hotel Matilda

You don’t have to go to Russia for some authentic Russian Tea. Now, the Hotel Matilda is making the upscale experience available to guests visiting Mexico.

The lifestyle-boutique hotel recently launched an afternoon Russian Tea Service, served in both the hotel’s bar and Library Lounge. The menu combines a variety of sweet and salty items in addition to four types of tea – two for salty snacks and two for sweet ones. Guests can expect lite bites like lemon and chocolate eclairs, lemon and cheese cakes, assorted chocolates and pastries, watercress sandwiches, baba bread with cucumber and yogurt, a salmon crostini and a tomato and burrata crostini.

“In the spirit and style of Hotel Matilda, we’ve taken a traditional favorite and given it a contemporary twist to appeal to our savvy, well-traveled guests,” said Bruce James, Director of Hotel Matilda. “And we’ve added special Russian flavor by pouring teas that channel the days of the Czars and procuring the tea service china in Moscow. This is an unexpected treat in Mexico, and Matilda may be the only hotel in the entire country offering a Russian Tea Service.”

Special Russian-blend teas will be served, including Kusmi Tea, the renowned Russian tea with a 150-year pedigree. Other teas include Anastasia Tea, which combines black tea with bergamot, lemon and orange blossom, in addition to English Breakfast and Green teas that are available as well.

To really authenticate the experience, all tea service china – including tea cups, saucers, tea pots, sugar bowls and creamers, were purchased in Moscow especially for the Hotel Matilda Russian Tea Service.

The Russian Tea Service is being offered four days a week, Tuesday through  Thursday with the addition of Sundays, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Guests can enjoy the service both in the Mui Bar’s indoor and outdoor patio seating, or within the Library and it’s three-story atrium.
