A new spa is coming to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. In April of 2017, the 90-room Palazzo di Varignana Resort & Spa will unveil a newly renovated 3,700 square-foot spa called the VarSana Spa, which will highlight traditional treatments as well as some unique ones, including a Turkish Hammam and Japanese Ryokan, both of which will be the first to debut in the area.
The VarSana Spa will be defined by holistic approaches, multi-disciplinary wellness, customized circuits and a sprawling indoor-outdoor space. A new Fusion Spa component will offer an authentic, multi-cultural wellness practice space that will include a hammer or Turkish bath, a ritual that involves an intense, wet purification by scrubbing steaming and soaking, followed by massage. The Suntory Spa will mimic a Ryokan, a Japanese inn that served travelers in the mid 1600-1800s. Suntory will take spa-goers on a traditional Japanese spa journey right in the heart of Italy.
A water circuit will incorporate a number of soaking tubs, sensory showers, a bio-sauna, Finnish sauna, steam bath, ice waterfall sound bath, Kneipp circuit, swimming pool with water jets and water blades, whirlpool and a relaxation area. Bonus: A new Crystal bar will serve post-pampering refreshments.
Treatments at the spa will range from facials for all skin types to body wraps, scrubs and massages, as well as multiple beauty services, including mani/pedis, make-up application and hair styling. To keep up on your fitness, the spa also offers a Technogym-equipped fitness center that will be open 24 hours along with access to a personal trainer who can devise a tailor made program. Also on site will be an Aufguss, or a “sauna expert” who will lead rituals promoting the healing properties of heat.
Should you be at Palazzo di Varignana in the summer, the resort offers five outdoor swimming pools. On site there is one, large main pool area with connecting waterfalls that lead to two smaller pools set on a downslope, leading to a wide panoramic solarium that opens to the infinity Crystal Pool. Nearby is a freshwater lap pool and a relaxation pool of hyper-saline water. A retractable glass roof will provide guests with access to the Crystal Pool year round starting in April, so don’t worry about the weather.
