Bar Scene: Parfums Givenchy-Inspired Cocktails at Hotel Café Royal

In a collaborative effort with Parfums Givenchy, Hotel Café Royal will be offering ten new botanical cocktails at the hotel’s Green Bar.

Debuting August 22, the cocktails will celebrate L'Atelier de Givenchy and, in particular, Iris Harmonique, the newest perfume in the collection. The menu, which runs through September 30, was developed by bar manager Derren King. In an effort to marry the world of scents and flavors, King has worked closely with Givenchy using detailed perfume notes to create a collection of drinks that range from fresh, floral, and summery concoctions to headier, full-bodied cocktails, all paired with a selection of distinctive garnishes and glassware.

The Green Bar is already a tribute to London's history of using botanicals (notably in gin) in mixology. For the new menu, each cocktail will have its own distinct color and taste, reflecting the key perfume notes. Highlighting the strong link between scent and taste, the new fragrances will be kept behind the bar for guests to experience before picking their cocktail of choice. The bartenders will explain the fragrances within each cocktail, and will serve each alongside scented buttons created by Givenchy to enhance the experience.

Cocktails include:

Chypre Caresse: A summery mix of Slingsby London Dry Gin, exotic aromas of freshly squeezed grapefruit, agave syrup, and Peychauds Bitters. Topped with Prosecco and Maraschino.
Oud Flamboyant: Impressively displayed with light smoke and honeycomb, with woody nuances of Nikka Coffey Grain whisky, coconut noir iced tea, Manuka honey and flash-flamed cinnamon.
Iris Harmonique: The namesake drink incorporates key elements of the perfume’s notes, infusing Ketel One Vodka and coconut in-house. Kumquat liqueur and lemon zest complete the cocktail.
