DAVIS, W.Va. (AP) — Bird watchers will be flocking to Davis this week for the annual Canaan Valley Birding Festival.

The festival will be held Thursday through Sunday at Canaan Valley Resort. This year's theme is "An Avian Celebration."

Activities include nature walks. The Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau says in a news release that species likely to be seen during the walks include bobolinks, scarlet tanagers and northern waterthrush.

Convention and visitors bureau executive director Jessica Scowcroft says Canaan Valley attracts a variety of bird species because of its high elevation and diverse habitat.

Special presenters during the festival include Bill Beatty and Jan Runyan with the Allegheny Front Migration Observatory and Division of Natural Resources ornithologist Rich Bailey.
