Mandarin Oriental San Francisco Unveils Renovation

For its 25th birthday, the Mandarin Oriental San Francisco has gotten all dolled up. The downtown hotel recently completed a big renovation; the lobby, event space, and all 158 guest rooms got a complete makeover by San Francisco-based interior designer Michael Booth of BAMO. The new look is stylish and decidedly contemporary. As HotelChatter explains, “The idea was to get away from the rich reds, golds and blacks that dominated the hotel's original design from 1987. This was the first Mandarin Oriental to open in the U.S., so it was important to introduce the brand's Asian focus.”

Decorated with custom-designed furniture to create a home-away-from-home experience, each guest room has spectacular views over the city. The suites each come with an enormous landscaped terrace and spa-like bathrooms with rain showers, free-standing soaking tubs, and Molton Brown amenities. Last month the Mandarin also debuted a brand new restaurant and bar called Brasserie S&P, helmed by Executive Chef Adam Mali. (Silks is now closed.)

The Mandarin Oriental San Francisco is located at 222 Sansome Street in the city’s third tallest building. For more information, visit www.mandarinoriental.com/sanfrancisco
