Capella Ubud to Open Soon in Bali

There’s a reason the Capella Ubud scored so highly when Luxury Travel Advisor surveyed its Advisory Board of the most anticipated hotel openings of 2018. The ultra luxury resort—which is now accepting bookings for late July—was conceived by famous designer Bill Bensley as a 22-suite retreat nestled between the rainforest, rice paddies and the sacred Wos River. To quote the official website, the resort was “inspired by the early European settlers from the 1800s…as a tribute to their spirit of adventure.” Great attention was paid to preserving the surrounding environment; no tree was cut during the resort’s construction, and all products are sourced locally.

Inside the individual tents, you’ll find teak floors, handmade in Central Java, batik fabrics and traditional, hand-carved Balinese doors that were specially commissioned and took a year to create. Each of the accommodations comes with its own saltwater pool, terrace, and indoor and outdoor bathrooms.

There are a variety of dining concepts. Named for the Danish spice trader, Mads’ Lounge is all about sustainably farmed ingredients; Api Jiwa serves up Asian street food, while The Camp Fire will be the spot for fireside storytelling paired with hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows. Last but not least: Mortar & Pestle Bar will offer light snacks and cocktails by the pool.

Guests can except the hallmarks of the Capella brand: Luxury treatments at the Auriga spa and Personal Assistants to arrange personalized itineraries and activities. There will also be a Capella Library and tented gym.

Capella Ubud is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
