Abercrombie & Kent to Launch Peruvian Riverboat in 2025

Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group has announced the launch of its new Peruvian riverboat. Set to embark on its inaugural voyage in April 2025, the yet-to-be-named vessel marks the company’s first riverboat in South America.

This new venture is the result of a collaboration between A&K and its expedition yacht brand in the Galapagos, Ecoventura. The new riverboat will have 10 double cabins and two single cabins. Each suite incorporates local materials and has floor-to-ceiling windows. Other facilities include an indoor-outdoor lounge and bar, a restaurant showcasing local flavors, an outdoor pool, a massage room and gym.

Bookings for A&K’s new Peruvian riverboat are available from June, with three- and four-night itineraries departing from Iquitos to Nauta. Guests aboard will explore the backwaters and landscapes of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, encountering wildlife and engaging with indigenous communities. These voyages can also be combined to create a seven-night experience, exploring both the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, with all journeys starting and ending in the port town of Nauta, a short transfer from the city of Iquitos, home to the nearest airport.

Guests can embark on guided excursions in search of encounters with the Amazon’s wildlife, from the pink river dolphins to the three-toed sloths and the myriad bird species that call this rainforest home. Guests can also go fishing in the black waters of the Samiria River or enjoy jungle walks in the rainforest. Opportunities to kayak or canoe through tributaries are also available, alongside stargazing experiences on the riverboat’s upper deck.

Beyond wildlife encounters, the riverboat’s journey emphasizes engagement with local communities. Guests can visit local schools supported by A&K Philanthropy (AKP), engage with community members and learn about traditional ways of life. Through AKP’s ongoing efforts in the region, A&K is committed to supporting sustainable development, education and conservation initiatives that uplift local communities and protect the Amazon’s cultural and natural treasures.
