First Look: AmaMagna Ready to Hit the Rivers

The AmaMagna, a new ship from AmaWaterways, will start its inaugural season on May 5, sailing the Romantic Danube itinerary from Vilshofen to Budapest.

The AmaMagna will have 98 staterooms, most of which are full balcony suites measuring between 355 and 710 square feet. The ship is two times the width of traditional river cruise ships, which allows it to offer various dining options, like two new dining venues to entertain guests: Jimmy’s Wine Bar Restaurant, named for AmaWaterways’ late co-founder Jimmy Murphy, and the Al Fresco Restaurant, with retractable ceiling and side windows for guests to watch over the views of the Danube and the towns that scatter about its shores.

Passengers onboard AmaMagna will be able to personalize their river cruise experience with a free daily excursion program featuring escorted hiking and biking tours and group fitness classes led by a trained Wellness Host. Other amenities include a heated Sun Deck swimming pool; a Zen Wellness Studio with massage, hair and nail salon services; and a complementary Water Sports Platform with the Sundowner boat for evening river excursions. Exclusive to AmaMagna, guests could utilize the new Concierge Golf Program, providing the chance to play five top-level golf courses in Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic while experiencing river cruising.
