The launch date for the first ship from the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, the new luxury cruise brand from Ritz-Carlton Hotels, has been pushed back to June 13, 2020. The ship had been originally scheduled to sail its inaugural voyage in February 2020.
“The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection was recently informed by Hijos de J. Barreras shipyard that it is facing delivery and project cost issues,” a spokesperson for the cruise line tells Luxury Travel Advisor. “With additional challenges around the former shipyard management, both the new Board of Hijos de J. Barreras and the Board of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection are working cooperatively towards a long-term solution for the shipyard.”
The yacht’s first voyage will now take place on June 14, 2020. Guests affected by the change will be invited to rebook their voyage on any of the brand’s voyages in 2020, or its newly announced 2021 itineraries. The brand will extend its voyage fare savings when guests rebook their future voyage or full reimbursement for guests’ paid cruise fare and airfare and hotel change fees. This includes air booked directly by guests, as long as documentation is provided, the spokesperson said.
A second yacht for the brand is also on order.
