Silversea Orders Silver Dawn, its Third Muse-Class Ship

Silversea has ordered another new luxury cruise ship. The luxury cruise line has signed a new contract, valued at over $380 million, with Fincantieri for the new vessel, with delivery scheduled for Q4 2021. Named Silver Dawn, the new vessel will be a sibling ship of Silversea’s flagship, Silver Muse, which was launched from the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy, in April 2017.

Like all Silversea ships, Silver Dawn will have all-suite accommodations, the luxury cruise line said. While further design details were not announced at this time, Silversea said that the new ship will share many of Silver Muse’s qualities. Silver Muse, the first ship in the Muse class, incorporated a number of new features for Silversea, including the highest number of large suites (Silver, Royal, Grand and Owner’s) in Silversea’s fleet, plus the highest number of connecting suites for families and friends. The ship also debuted a new two-bedroom Silver Suite configuration, measuring 1,119 square feet. Other notable amenities include eight food and beverage venues, including an exclusive Relais & Châteaux restaurant, plus a Zàgara Beauty Spa.

The order of Silver Dawn comes just months after the cruise line signed a contract with Fincantieri for the construction of Silver Moon, another sibling ship to Silver Muse, which is due to be delivered in 2020. The new ship will bring Silversea’s fleet total to 11 and will mark the third ship in the Muse class.

The launch of the Silver Muse and the announcement of its two sibling ships has been complemented by a fleet update project at Silversea aimed at bringing its other ships closer to Muse-class standards. Most recently the Silver Spirit wrapped a lengthening and renovation project that increased its overall capacity by 12 percent, its dining capacity by 15 percent and its outdoor seating by 20 percent. Other improvements included décor updates to the ship’s public areas and suites; enlarging the pool deck; and increasing the ship’s dining options to eight, including the newly introduced Spaccanapoli, Silver Note, Atlantide and Indochine, as well as the renovated La Terrazza. Other new onboard amenities include the Arts Café, Tor’s Observation Library, the Zagara Spa, the Panorama Lounge, and the Dolce Vita lounge.
