Luxury Travel Advisor is aboard the new, Scenic Eclipse II this week, sailing in the Mediterranean. We briefly checked out a few of the newly enhanced or updated spaces aboard this second Discovery Yacht operated by Scenic Group.

For advisors or their clients who’ve sailed previously on Scenic Eclipse, two of the “changed” spaces on the new ship are Deck 10's outdoor spaces, as well as the spa's steam room area on Deck 6.

New, Large Pool

A new, large, oval-shaped Vitality Pool has been added to the ship's top Sky Deck. Pretty cool: One unique feature is that swim jets will allow guests to swim “laps” despite the limited space. We also like the metal chairs and bench positioned under the water (as seen in the photo further below).

New Sky Bar and Seating

Guests will additionally find a new Sky Bar on the Sky Deck. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We liked the look of the space with rich tones and materials. This bar space makes a great getaway atop the ship.

Six new private cabanas also will allow guests to enjoy views of landscapes or cityscapes with a drink in hand. Outdoors on the deck, guests will also find plenty of other comfortable seats too.

Expanded Spa Steam Room

Scenic Eclipse II’s expansive Senses Spa has a range of spaces to pamper mind, body and soul. Those include everything from therapy rooms to saunas, a steam room, temperature-controlled plunge pools, relaxation lounges, a manicure/pedicure studio, and outdoor terrace.

What’s different from the first Discovery Yacht? Most notably, the steam room has been expanded to accommodate aromatherapy, an integrated ice fountain (see photo at right) and experience showers.

One nifty addition is the new custom salt therapy lounge (shown in the photo atop this page). Here, guests will discover heated beds and aromatherapy scents from spa design company KLAFS.

What Else Is New?

The newly named Chef’s Garden @ Epicure is expected to be an immersive dining experience and presentation area. We were unable to see or photograph this space during our voyage, but were assured that it's coming soon.

This new culinary experience will accommodate up to 14 guests who are standing, or alternatively seven who are seated. They'll take immersive culinary masterclasses here.

Among the options, cruise guests might learn to make chocolate. Or, perhaps they'll sample a “dram” or two in onboard whiskey tasting sessions.

Suite Updates

Significant upper-category suite enhancements have been made onboard Scenic Eclipse II, as well.

For example, the Owner’s Penthouse Suites now include a redesigned walk-in wardrobe. The bathrooms have been totally transformed. They now offer a private mini spa with steam room, spa baths and two KLAFS infrared seats.

Separately, the bathrooms in the Spa Suites have also been upgraded. Guests now enjoy a spacious, circular spa bath, double sink and separate shower with the latest “shower jets” technology.
