MAMA Shelter has announced its expansion into the U.S., with the first property scheduled to open in Los Angeles on May 15.

Created seven years ago by the Trigano Family, co-founders of Club Med, MAMA Shelter began as a boutique Paris hotel before expanding to Marseilles, Lyon, Istanbul and Bordeaux.

Located in Hollywood’s Selma and Wilcox neighborhood, near such sites as the Chinese Theatre, the six-floor MAMA Shelter will be designed by Thierry Gaugain.

The rooms will have 27-inch iMacs (including television, Criterion Collection movies and video/photo booth), free Wi-Fi connectivity and fun touches like Bert and Ernie lampshades.

Hotel facilities will include a gym and restaurant on the rooftop, which will offer a nearly 360-degree view of the city, from the Hollywood sign, to Downtown, to South Bay, to the Westside. Chef Benjamin Bailly, from Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Petrossian and Fraiche, designed the menus.
