Bordeaux Buzz: Gordon Ramsay Takes Over at Le Pressoir d’Argent

Grand Hotel de Bordeaux

As we reported back in June, Bordeaux is abuzz with exciting new hotels and restaurants. Ever since the Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa announced that Gordon Ramsay would take over its gastronomic restaurant, Le Pressoir d’Argent, we’ve been keeping one ear to the ground for news. Decadently decorated by in-demand designer Jacques Garcia, the hotel is housed in an 18th century landmark located at 2 Place de la Comédie-- directly across from the opera house. Facilities include a NUXE spa and a happening rooftop terrace.

The latest word is that Gordon Ramsay will open the doors to the restaurant on September 25—five months after the hotel and the Gordon Ramsay Group made the agreement. Le Pressoir d’Argent will be open every evening except Sunday and Monday. Ramsay has appointed Gilad Peled as executive chef; he previously worked at the Relais & Châteaux property, Les Sources des Alpes in Switzerland. This is the second restaurant for Gordon Ramsay in France, after the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace in Versailles.
