Buzz in South Beach: The Betsy Hotel Is Expanding

Back in 2009, The Betsy opened as a luxury beachfront boutique hotel in the heart of the happening South Beach scene. (Formerly The Betsy Ross, the 61-room hotel had a complete renovation and added a destination dining option: BLT Steak, one of Miami’s most popular steakhouses.) Now, The Betsy is in the midst of an expansion which will add the adjacent building next door, formerly The Carlton Hotel.

Slated to be completed by November 2016, the newly expanded Betsy South Beach will be composed of two wings connected by a bridge: the Colonial Wing (the current Ocean Drive hotel) and the “Art Deco Wing” (the renovated Carlton hotel). The expanded hotel will offer more dining options, event venues, spacious suites, and a rooftop pool deck with views on the beach. The Betsy remains open to guests during the construction, as most of the work is taking place in the new Art Deco wing (limited to the hours between 8 am and 4 pm).
