Chocolate in Paris: Jean-Paul Hévin’s New Marais Store

Jean-Paul Hevin

While shopping the trendy Upper Marais district in Paris, you might find yourself in need of a sweet pick-me-up. The place to go is the new boutique from master chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin, located next to the Marché des Enfants Rouge, the oldest market in Paris. Jean-Paul Hévin has been awarded Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF), and he’s known worldwide for his artistic creations (he has nine boutiques in Japan alone.)

The new store at 41 rue de Bretagne is his fourth in Paris. Hévin’s Chocolate Bar(re) concept isn’t just a showcase for some of the finest chocolate treats you can find in Paris, this is also a place where you can taste a variety of hot chocolates crafted from different, rare cacao beans, individually selected and representing diverse places of origin.

During the holiday season, the bûches de Noël (yule logs) are particularly enticing. The city’s top pâtissiers compete to produce beautiful, over-the-top sweets to steal the show on your holiday table.
