Django Reinhardt NY Festival Goes Semi-Annual

Great news for music fans in New York: The annual Django Reinhardt NY Festival is now a semi-annual event, taking place in both June and November at Birdland.

This spring's edition of the festival, which will run from June 19 to 24, 2012, will see the return of The Young Lions of Gypsy Jazz from France.
The Young Lions will be headed by Samson Schmitt on guitar, son of gypsy star Dorado Schmitt, who will return for the November edition of
the Festival. Samson comes from the Strasbourg region of France, part of the Manouche gypsy culture, and is joined by Ludovic Beier on accordion and accordina.

Several popular lady jazz artists will also appear as guests on different nights: Anat Cohen will perform on June 19 and 20; Grace Kelly on June 21 and 22, and Cyrille Amee on June 23 and 24.

Birdland is located at 315 W. 44th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.
