Fairmont is positioning itself to cozy up next to Istanbul's other luxury giants (think Four Seasons, Park Hyatt and Kempinski).

We hear that Fairmont Quasar, Istanbul will open a 210-room hotel in 2016, which will be joined by branded residences and is part of the Quasar Istanbul complex.

Historic touch: The Quasar Istanbul complex is in the central business district whose showpiece is the former Mecidiyeköy Liqueur and Cognac Factory. Two 41-story towers will rise above a four-story office podium with fitness facilities and retail stores.
