Famed Pastry Chef Christophe Michalak to Open First Paris Shop

Pastry by Michalak

Big news for pastry fans in Paris: Christophe Michalak— the celebrity pâtissier who has a cult-like following because of his TV shows— will be opening his first dedicated pastry shop at the end of September. Michalak already delights guests of the Hotel Plaza Athénée, a Dorchester Collection hotel, with his jewel-like creations and delicate morning pastries. (Breakfast even comes with its own pastry guide explaining the different treats.)

Two years ago, the chef opened his very own cooking school, called Michalak Masterclass, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. Now he’s set to make a splash in the 4th arrondissement when his boutique debuts in the fall. Located at 16 rue de la Verrerie, the shop will showcase Michalak signatures like marvelous millefeuilles and the religieuse au caramel beurre salé—made of two stacked cream puffs resembling a “nun” in her habit. Michalak has a penchant for reinterpreting classic French pastries, and the results are a treat for the senses.
