Mushroom hunting is a delectable (albeit dirty) gourmet pastime, but we hear Four Seasons is spiffing it up a bit with a luxury twist.
Four Seasons Vail is offering Mercedes & Mushrooms expeditions, where mushroom-hunters will be transported up the mountain in style for a fun day outing.
Expert mushroom forager Graham Steinruck will lead the group in the hunt, while giving an overview of what times of mushrooms to look for, what to avoid and how to properly pick and clean a mushroom. Then guests will board the fleet of Mercedes SUVs en route to a scenic destination. Nice touch: Guests will be treated to white wine and a gourmet picnic lunch before returning to the resort.
The day's bounty will then be taken to Flame, the resort's signature restaurant, where Executive Chef Jason Harrison will lead a culinary demonstration incorporating the freshly-picked mushrooms. The whole experience is capped off with a three-course dinner, with one or more of the courses featuring the mushrooms.
