Grand Hotel Stockholm Unveils Renovation

Grand Hotel Stockholm

Visitors to the Grand Hotel Stockholm, the landmark overlooking the Royal Palace and Gamla Stan, will find some exciting refurbishments. The hotel has been in the midst of a large renovation project, recently completing a makeover of The Veranda restaurant and the third and fourth floor guestrooms. Just this month the Grand Hotel Stockholm unveiled the lobby renovation, which is inspired by 1874, the year the hotel was built.

Original antiques from the late 19th century are arranged on plush carpets across white Carrara marble floors, and four dramatic chandeliers dangle overhead. Significant work went into a new lighting and sound system which uses the latest technology to create the ambience based on the time of the day and the weather (whether it’s sunny or cloudy out).

CEO Pia Djupmark explained, “The lobby is naturally very important for us as this is where guests get their first impression of the hotel. The lobby is also the heart of our establishment and crucial to its overall ambiance. Today’s guests expect the lobby of a five star hotel to hold the same standard as the rest of their experience.”
