The Conrad brand is making a move to Macau. We hear Sands China Ltd., a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corp., and Hilton Worldwide signed a franchise agreement to open a Conrad hotel in the gambling and tourist mecca. The 636-room Conrad Macau is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2012.
The Conrad brand already exists in Hong Kong and Sanya Haitang Bay, with others being built in Dalian, Beijing, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Tiajian, Qingdao and Xiamen in Greater China.
John Vanderslice, global head, luxury and lifestyle brands, Hilton Worldwide, told the Financial Post that the addition of Conrad Macau demonstrates the brand's commitment to development in major cities and resort destinations. "Adding a Conrad in an exciting location like Macau reflects the brand’s intent to have a presence in the world’s gateway cities and most sought-after resort destinations," he said.
