Karl Lagerfeld Redesigns the Hotel Métropole Monte-Carlo

Hotel Metropole Monte CarloIn other news out of Monaco: None other than Karl Lagerfeld has been tapped to redesign the Hotel Métropole Monte-Carlo. Renovated in 2004 by star designer Jacques Garcia, the Métropole is continually looking to up the ante. The latest makeover, to be revealed in Summer 2012, will enlist the artistic eye of fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. The hotel invited him to renovate the outside spaces, including the pool, terraces, gardens, and a new restaurant (the third one on property by chef Joël Robuchon). Women’s Wear Daily describes “one of the key features of the project” as a “fresco-style installation consisting of 15 etched and backlit glass panels depicting Ulysses’ journey.”

Hotel Métropole Monte-Carlo has a spa by ESPA, a Michelin-starred restaurant (Retaurant Joël Robuchon), and a happening Lobby Bar. The pool is currently closed for renovation work and will reopen this summer. For more information, visit www.metropole.com.
