London Restaurant News: Chai Wu Opens at Harrods

Chai Wu, London

There’s a new place to refuel while shopping at Harrods, London’s luxury department store. On January 18, Harrods opened Chai Wu, a Chinese restaurant, located next to the Shoe Heaven department on the fifth floor. In fact, considering the chef’s credentials, the restaurant is poised to become a destination for Chinese cuisine in the British capital.

On the menu you’ll find a selection of dim sum; small dishes like Chilean sea bass dumpling with gold leaf; and signature specialties like Beijing duck, Korean lobster, and Alaskan king crab glazed in soy sauce. The design by the Harrison firm is anchored in the five elements of Chinese philosophy (wood, fire, earth, metal and water). Architectural Digest notes the "opulent mix of timber, leather, decadent gray and brown marble, with polished copper finishes.”

The best seat in the house? The dining bar facing the open kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work.
