London's Corinthia Hotel Opens a Harrods Shop

For the first time in hotel history, Harrods has opened a boutique inside the ultra-luxurious Corinthia Hotel London. (Harrods has opened other outlets—at Heathrow, for example—but never inside a hotel.) The swank five-star palace on Whitehall Place opened to much fanfare in May 2011, boasting opulent suites and the new flagship spa for ESPA. Oh, and it has a fabulous 24-hour check-in policy. (For more details about the hotel, check out Jena Tesse Fox’s article in the May 2011 issue of Luxury Travel Advisor.) And it keeps getting better. Harrods, everyone’s favorite luxury department store, has now unveiled an outpost in the hotel’s marble lobby. Shoppers can pick up Harrods signature goodies—including teas, chocolate truffles, soaps, china and accessories-- without leaving the comfort of the hotel. It’s a light-filled space, fragrant with flowers and illuminated with blue chandeliers. For guests staying in the hotel, they’ll also find treats from Harrods in the minibar.
